Introduction to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life

Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gilmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this.

Each week I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind. And then I’ll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind and your energy to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.

Let’s begin.

Welcome and Introduction to the Episode

Hello and welcome. It is so wonderful to connect with you. I just love that you are here continuing to expand your mind, your energy, your consciousness, your healing. I just love it. And I just love today’s episode, you know, each episode just has its own distinction, its own insight, its own awareness, just on working with the mind or healing or just transformation in so many ways.

And that is so true with today’s episode. It’s just got different distinctions that can be really eye-opening. And so I love that. And our volunteer, her name is Jean. You’re absolutely going to love her. And one of the things you’re going to notice as we step into today’s session is that her mind works really, really fast, but likely the direction that we’re going to go with this is probably different than you think, because, you know, you’ve probably heard all the time people are trying to slow down their mind to get their mind to slow down, to stop racing.

Understanding the Fast-Moving Mind

As we step into today’s episode, you’ll notice that you can start looking at that in a different way. And that’s part of where this episode is going, is thinking about the mind in a different way and how to work with it instead of against it. Because so often people are feeling like their mind, they’re struggling against it to try to get it to stop doing what it’s doing.

And when we start to look at it through a different lens, you can see how it can be easier and also how there are changes that you can make that can actually help. You succeed in the long run also, because sometimes what I’ll see people do is try to implement a change that ultimately is. It’s backfiring from where they want to go, etc.

So basically we’re going to look at some layers and just depth and look at information in a different way. All right. So that’s where we’re going. And again, you’re absolutely going to love Jean. She’s just, she’s precious and smart and beautiful just inside and out. And that said, let’s go ahead and dive in.

Jean Joins the Session

Here we go.

Hello.
Hi, Brandy.
Hi, it’s wonderful to connect with you.
It’s wonderful to connect with you as well. Thank you for giving me this opportunity.
Absolutely. What can I help you with today, beautiful?
Um, I guess it just, uh, in terms of physical pain, I don’t have anything right now.
Um, I have some physical issues, but it, for me, it’s like just a general feeling of well being.
I’ve, I understand patterns and subconscious I’ve been, you know, I’ve cleared out or changed a lot of stuff over the years and I just feel like this is why I’m, I’m coming to you.

Jean Discusses Her Subconscious Work

Because it’s subconscious, which is why I’m not aware of it, but I can, I feel, I mean, I can feel there’s something, it’s maybe like this next shift that needs to take place, because I can tell you a big story about all the things going wrong in my life or whatever I work on, but I, um, it’s, it’s about getting in touch with what am I missing or what am I not changing enough because I’ve been listening.

I, I came across you accidentally, I believe in accidentals, uh, in December. And since then, I’ve been listening to your podcast. Um, when I have time, like when I walk to work and when I’m getting ready for work and everything you say aligns with everything I believe and have done and so, but I’ve been just feeling something since the summer.

Jean Explores Patterns and Relationships

And I’ve cleared some of it out, but I still have something pervasive now. I mean, I do want to explore or I’m curious about my relationship with time and my relationship with my teeth, because those, those are things that have been ongoing, like I’ve experienced lots of changes, but, um, I have this thing with time and, and, you know, it’s like giving my time.

Give you my time to a lot of people. I’m learning to set boundaries and say no, especially at work because then I’m underselling my or under marketing or under selling my value per hour. We want to look at it that way. And I’ve had problems with my teeth forever, you know. Yeah. Okay. And real quick.

Physical Pain and Life Experiences

Um, and you mentioned that you also are periodically having pain as well, or you just don’t have any right now, but you have had issues going on as well.
Is that correct? Or no, I haven’t. I was in a car accident when I was, I don’t remember, 10, 18 years old and developed problems on the left side of my body.
I’m a physiotherapist, so I’m worked and done lots of different kinds of alternative healing and subconscious work and my, my back, you know, part of it is aging and working.
I recognize that, but I had, um, I strained my low back probably right before I, you know, put the time with you. And I’m like, I mean, Don, you don’t need to create a problem to see Brandy. You can still see, you know, checking out that thought process.

Brandy Begins to Analyze Jean’s Situation

So, okay. So actually, so, uh, so give me one second. Okay.
So, um, bingo. Okay. So real quick. So I’m gonna, I was just gonna, I was pulling in different pieces. So is it okay if I just jump in real quick? Is that okay?
Absolutely.
Fantastic. Okay. So what I would say is, so you, you mentioned, I don’t need to create a problem to be able to talk with Brandy, but it’s actually what I see is there’s a feeling of feeling, um, unsupported at work.

Exploring Patterns of Support and Independence

Uh, it feels like, um, bingo, like there’s a feeling of feeling like I have to do things myself. Feeling unsupported. Are you familiar with that feeling?
Yes. That’s something that I’ve looked at in, in this, I’m going to call it isolation pattern because, um, I’ve always, I’ve always sort of been like the lone wolf in different ways, but I think that’s Work settings like I’ve worked in an environment where I’m the only one that has certain skill sets or I’m located somewhere, you know, sort of separate from the other ones.

I sort of thinking like, well, this is interesting that this is happening. But also in, um, when I was, if I think back to patterns, um, I remember being with it. Isolated when I was in the hospital when I was a kid, like six, seven years old, and I didn’t understand, and I never thought to ask my parents, right?

Childhood Patterns Influence Current Behavior

But, you know, I’ve worked, I’ve looked at that memory in terms of seeing how patterns have played themselves out in my adult life. And that was, and that’s when I realized like, why was I put in a room in, um, you know, in the children’s ward where I was the only kid and all the other rooms. But then some, at some point I was moved to a private room in the day.

So totally. So I’m gonna ask you to breathe.
Okay. Now I’m gonna ask you to breathe.
Yes.

Brandy Analyzes Jean’s Mental Process

So just to interrupt for a moment. Okay, so I want you to notice all of the details. How there’s a lot of details that your mind goes over and spins on. Can you see that? That’s related to your teeth. Okay, so it’s like there’s so many, there’s so many things that’s hard to decide and get clarity.

So there’s a lot of things, but if we just keep it linear for a moment, there is a feeling of an intense feeling of needing to be a perfectionist. Are you familiar with that feeling?
Yes, yes, yes, yes. Okay. Yes, much. So there’s an intense need to be a perfectionist. And then also your mind wanting to go this, this, like it’s taking in.
It’s like, there’s a part of you that does not like to be wrong and does not like to be told what to do. It’s like, you want to know everything and be the one who knows everything. Can you see that?
Yes. And interesting. Mantra for 2025. Okay, so wait a sec, wait a sec, wait a sec, so I’m gonna ask you to breathe.
Okay. So we can definitely go where your mind wants to go because I every time I say something you’re wanting to take it in a different direction than I want to just so you know and you can do that but I do want to take it in a different direction, but it’s up to you.
Oh, please do. Great, so I’m gonna ask you to breathe. Okay, and I want you to notice how much your mind wants to take everything to the past. Everything that I say, as soon as I say, Oh, there’s this, like I said, support it.
And then you go, Oh my gosh. And then the childhood and then the, this and then the, this. So you have 50 other thoughts, like your mind goes so quick.
Yes. Okay. So I’m gonna, so I’m gonna ask you to breathe. And I want you to come back real quick.

Brandy Addresses the Overactive Mind

All right, so let’s go ahead and pause it just for a quick moment. You know, first and foremost, I just absolutely love her. I just love her desire, her passion. I just absolutely love it. And there are a few key insights you’ll want to notice here about working with the mind.
Now, first and foremost, we’ll notice her mind’s going around really, really, really fast. But what is it doing? It’s trying to hurry up and find the answer to be right. To say, okay, let me be right. Okay, let me be right. And so it’s going really, really, really fast. As soon as I mentioned anything to try to be right.
So it’s that perfectionist piece. Now, spoiler alert, I’m going to tell you as we’re going, there’s a couple, there’s some really profound insights as we go through the session, but one of them is a deep down feeling of not feeling good enough.
And so part of her perfectionist is trying to really feel like she’s good enough, good enough, and so needing to have the answer. And so that’s what her mind’s doing, is that, you know, as soon as I mention anything, her mind’s trying to hurry up and find the answer.
And so, that can of course create a lot of chaotic feelings on the inside.
Now, this is the inside. You know, she’s very smart. You can tell she’s very smart. And, she just, there’s that perfectionist part inside of her.
Now, if we unpack this a bit. All of the time I’ll hear people say, well, let me just slow down the mind, slow down the mind. And I don’t recommend going that direction.
So yes, I’m interrupting her to get her to take a moment, to take a beat, but it’s to reprogram her mind, not to slow down her mind. In other words, if somebody said to me, Hey Brandy, I want to slow down your brain. Okay, we don’t want to slow down the brain. It’s like slowing down your computer. Who wants to slow down your computer when you’re working on it?

The Goal is to Reprogram the Mind, Not Slow It Down

Okay, so you don’t want to slow down your brain. And again, just emphasizing this, because I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say they have a racing mind, and they want to get it to just slow down. But instead, the way you want to think about it is programming your mind to do what you want it to do.

Meaning this, you want her mind to be able to think really fast. Absolutely, that she wants to be able to think in a moment when she can, you know, come up with answers, come up with solutions. Absolutely, so that’s a good thing that her mind is fast, but it needs to do it at the right times. And also, if it’s going in a million different directions all of the time to try to always have the solution to be perfect.
That’s not what we want it to do, meaning this, meaning if we think about a computer, you want your computer to work really fast. But if it’s just working fast on a bunch of different things, then you don’t want it to just randomly do a bunch of different things, that’s chaotic. So you don’t want it to do that.

Understanding the Chaos of an Overactive Mind

And so if your computer is doing a bunch of different things really, really fast, you wouldn’t say, well, I just want my computer to be slow. That would not be the solution, especially, you know, if we think about aging and cognitive decline and people starting to think more slowly or whatnot. The last thing you want to tell your brain is, hey, work slower.

But instead, we always want to identify why the brain is doing what it’s doing. Like, why is the mind doing what it’s doing? And then reprogram it. So in this case, as you’ll see coming up, We talk even more about the perfectionist, because as we just talked about, there’s a big perfectionist. Even when I mentioned it, she laughed.
She says, yep. And so she’s well aware of that. But that comes from a feeling of needing and trying to feel good enough. And so ultimately, instead of just saying, Hey slow down brain. Instead, we want to understand why her mind is doing what it’s doing. and instead help fulfill that feeling of making sure she feels like she is good enough because she is she’s great, she’s wonderful but really feeling that and not needing to feel like the perfectionist to get love and connection and so that’s part of where we’re going.

Now there’s another thing as well with her mind coming up with also to some distractions. And so that’s another piece to the puzzle. And that’s where we’re going as we step back in with our beautiful volunteer, Jean. Here we go.

And if I ask you to notice the part of you where you said, I have to set up boundaries at work right now, if I said, I have to feel like I have to set up boundaries at work. If I ask you how much there’s a part of me who is feeling overstretched at work, what would you say?
Um, 10 plus exactly. Okay. So I want you to notice the 10 plus of feeling overstretched.

Right? So I’m gonna ask you to breathe. And notice how so the teeth notice when I said there’s a feeling of not feeling supported immediately when I was talking about one thing I’m talking about feeling overstretched and not supported and feeling like you’re not being supported at work. Immediately your mind went to 50 other things including like.
Oh, this pattern of the lone wolf. I always, I’m traveling here and here. And when I’m the only person who knows this thing, and by the way, the hospital and the childhood and blah, blah, blah, and all like your mind went so fast on so many different things, it’s going to feel what overwhelming.

Jean’s Overwhelm and Thought Process

Can I just, uh, the support part, my, my bosses, let’s say mentors are like, they’re very supportive in, I’m going to say with the expectation of what I’m supposed to do, because what I do is a bit specialized.
different from traditional. Yes. Now I have a question for you. Okay. So I hear you. I hear you. That’s exactly where they are. Do I hear you?
Yeah. I hear you. Wait a sec. I hear you. Do you hear me yet? The overwhelm? Bingo. Okay, so the stretched, if I ask you how overstretched you feel at work, zero to 10?
Yeah, like 15.
Okay. So, yep. Yep. So I’m gonna ask you to breathe. So again, I can hear you if you’d like. If you want me to listen, I’ll just listen all day long.
Okay. But the concern that I have is the overstretched feeling.

The Connection Between Overwhelm and Back Pain

Okay. So the overstretched had to do with the back, so, so notice for a moment you immediately told yourself that it was because you needed to have an appointment with, when you, when you said, this is what you said, you said, I don’t need to create a problem to have a session with Brandy, to meet with Brandy, but it was nothing to do with me. So, in other words, watch this, is if I said it’s raining outside because I’m drinking water, is that a correct connection in my brain?

So, now I’m creating all of these things in my mind that aren’t accurate and then acting from that place. Right? So in other words, you don’t want to tell yourself that you had to create a health issue to connect with me because that’s not the thing. So when I checked what was the trigger, it’s like overwhelm at a 500.
When you said, when, when the back, okay. Now, the other part is the teeth is it’s so much to chew. You’re chewing on to like, imagine if I said I went to go eat one bite of an apple and decided to eat a bit apple, broccoli, banana, pear, salad, fruit, everything all at the same time. How do you think my teeth feel if I’m trying to sink my teeth into 50,000 things, right?

Addressing Overwhelm and Mental Clarity

So yeah. So notice your mind is very quick. And so what’s happening is this. If I said my energy is always overwhelmed, how is my life? It will be overwhelmed. Okay, great. So, so the thing of it is, is part of organizing and getting your life manageable is also getting your energy manageable too. Does that make sense?

So it’s an energy—it’s an energetic match. Does that make sense? So I’m going to ask you to breathe.

Managing Overwhelm and Structure in Life

All right, so let’s go ahead and actually pause the session right here. You know, first and foremost, I just love her. I love her. I love the way she shows up just a beautiful, beautiful being. And I want to pause the session here because I want to unpack this particular topic because it is such a topic for a lot of people about feeling overstretched or overwhelmed.

And the ways that it can show up and impact your health in a variety of different ways. Now, of course, in her case, we’re talking about this because of both the back issue, but also because of her teeth of feeling like she’s chewing on way too much of feeling like, you know, So much going on that she’s trying to chew it all and it’s, it’s too much.

The Importance of Structure in Managing Overwhelm

And so we’re talking about her teeth for that reason. And by the way, overwhelm can show up in a variety of different ways, depending upon the ways that people process the stress or feel it. And that’s part of what I want to talk about. It’s exactly that is when we think about feeling overstretched or overwhelmed, you know, I’m not against the feeling of being stretched, depending upon how you process it.

And a simple way to think about it is like this is if you think about. What we were able to handle maybe in 3rd grade or in 7th grade compared to what we as adults handle and do on a daily basis now is much different. We’ve grown, we’ve stretched, and so being able to continue to grow and stretch yourself, if you will, is a good thing. As long as it’s done in a healthy way.

Embracing Life’s Stretches and Challenges

And in fact, even when I was writing my book, I have to say, I was definitely stretched. Let’s put it that way. I was stretched. Now, what I told myself when I was writing my book was this, when I was noticing, wow, I’m feeling stretched. I didn’t want to process it in a negative way, because that’s a lot of times when it can start to affect your health is if you’re processing it in a way where you say, wow, this is too much, or you’re stuck in it for a long period of time.

And it’s just, and it’s frustrating or even things like needing to put up boundaries. Now, when we put up boundaries, what are we doing? That’s a feeling of defense. So there’s a feeling of defense instead of the way you want to think about is instead saying, well, let me put up structure. Structure feels like, okay, well let me organize this.

Shifting from Defense to Structure

Defense can feel like overwhelmed chaos and feeling defensive because if we need to put up boundaries. What are we doing? There’s a feeling of defense, if you will, of also resistance. And so these little feelings, if you will, the, the difference may seem very insignificant, but of course it can affect the body in a different way. Just like, you know, if we think about emotions for a moment, just on a big picture.

If you think about the emotion of somebody feeling nervous, they might have a nervous stomach. If you think about somebody feeling anxious, they might have a panic attack, anxiety, anxious, or embarrassed red face. So you can see that these small little distinctions between anxious and nervous, nervous, and embarrassed, each affect the body differently. So when I’m looking at these, these small details regarding emotions, they’re not small, they’re significant.

The Importance of Structure in Growth

You know, in anything we do, just like a computer or playing a musical instrument, one note versus another note, it may seem insignificant, but it’s a big difference. And so when we look at this for a moment. Regarding the topic of stretching that it’s tricky because in life we do need to stretch and we do need to grow.

But we also want to make sure we look at our relationship with that. And so as I was talking about my book what I did is as I was feeling very stretched I started telling myself I said I would literally tell myself I’d say If I was running for president, I would be even busier and I would be pulled in more directions. And of course, that’s not saying that I want to run for president at all.

Changing Our Perspective on Stress

So I just was giving myself that analogy because, you know, you think about somebody running for president, they’re traveling here, traveling there, all over the place, pulled in a lot of different directions. And so it was my way of saying, well, wait a second.
If I was running for president, I’d be pulled in a lot of different directions. So I don’t need to feel overstretched. I just need to just embrace. I’m okay. I’m great. Let me embrace this. Let me have fun with this. Right now, let’s be honest. Some people inside their mind, when they’re feeling overstretched, they tell themselves, this is too much, I can’t handle this, this is frustrating, I need to be defensive, I need to protect myself, I need to this, I need to, and they start going into all of those negative emotions towards it.

Shifting from Negative to Positive Stress

And that’s the point. Is that if you hang out there, it can affect your health, your life, your happiness, all kinds of things. And so there’s that. Now another thing is, is of course, stretching is great. And just like if you go to the gym or a workout and you stretch, you don’t want to stretch the whole time. So it’s like you stretch into something and then you get comfortable with it and you stretch into something.

So you want to, of course, create a wonderful, healthy relationship with stretching. So you can continue to stretch, but it’s not too far. So similarly, if you know, using that same analogy as the gym, if you go to the gym and you say, okay, well I’m going to do the splits today and you haven’t stretched in 10 years, you know, that may not feel very good.

Embracing Growth in a Healthy Way

Right? And so when we look at stretching for a moment, yes, sometimes we need to stretch, there’s different times we may need to stretch. I mean, all the time I’ll see people who maybe they have a baby and during that time They’re up a lot during the night and they’re feeling like they’re needing to stretch, you know. They’re stretching how long they can go with lack of sleep and whatnot.
And we can have absolute compassion and the self-talk that occurs, the way they feel about it. They feel like, Oh my gosh, I’m frustrated. I just can’t sleep. It doesn’t go so well.

But if they say, okay, look at this is just for the time, you know, this, this will pass and let me enjoy this. And, and let me, you know, the way that they see it, the way that we are willing to see something. So notice how I said, even though I have no desire to run for president, notice how I gave myself that way of looking at it that I said, Hey, if I was doing this, I would be a lot busier.

Shifting Our Mindset Around Stress and Growth

Let me just be grateful and wonderful with everything that I’m doing. So I looked at it in a way that was helpful for me to still stay positive and laugh and enjoy and lean into the stretch instead of be aggravated and upset about stretching and overwhelmed and feeling that. Instead, I leaned into it.

Now, let’s be honest, when we look at life right now, so many people are in overwhelm, and then they might feel like, well, inside, I shouldn’t have to do this, and oh, this isn’t fair, or oh, there’s no way out of this, I’m gonna be stuck here forever, or whatever it is, and what I want to invite you to do is to be willing to process it in a positive way.

Final Thoughts on Overwhelm and Stretching

And that’s the reason I wanna pause this session right here, is to, to do that. You know, in my situation, I said, okay, well I’m gonna stretch and grow. Now, sometimes people might think, oh, there’s too much going on in life. Like, you know, there’s too much, there’s too much, and they’re constantly pushing against it.

There’s too much, I can’t handle it. I can’t handle it. And they feel that way and then they go into the overwhelm, which can, of course. Lead to illness. They feel like they can’t handle it. They can’t handle it. And I’ve worked with plenty of people in that situation before, but instead of saying like, they can’t handle it, they can’t handle it, what if it’s easy?

Shifting Perspective on Overwhelm

What if everything becomes easier and easier? Because again, what we are able to handle in third grade or fifth grade compared to what we’re able to handle in high school or in college or whatnot is different. And what we’re capable of, we want to be able to keep growing and expanding. And the things that I do now today, you know, five years ago, 10 years ago could have been, you know, more stressful or harder to do.

And now it becomes easier and easier and easier as you get better at those things. And so that’s a little lens that I want to invite you to look at in your life is exactly that. And of course, setting up structure can absolutely help. So part of the thing you may want to think about is saying, okay, well, is there structure that needs to be set up or is there something that I need to be able to get better at?

The Role of Structure in Handling Life’s Challenges

Because what happens is, is the more structure you have, the easier it is as well. So maybe that’s a change that you may want to make. But just because again, this is such a big topic for so many people. I want to pause this session and invite you that if you are feeling overwhelmed or overstretched, If there’s a, to, to look at this and see if there’s another way you want to look at it, or even an actionable thing that you could do that instead of saying, I’m going to set up boundaries, I’m going to set up structure.

What does that structure look like? Because even if we think about a large company, you think about Amazon, Amazon has a lot of structure to it. So a lot of times when we have the right structure, a building, you know, a tall building with the right structure can be very, very, very tall. But if it doesn’t have the right structure, if Amazon, the company, did not have the right structure, it wouldn’t do so well.

Building the Right Structure in Life

And so, the more we can set ourselves up in life with the right structure, the easier and more blissful and harmonious it is to succeed. And so, when we think structure instead of thinking boundaries and too much and overstretched, but instead creating a different relationship with that growth of life.

So we don’t feel like we need to escape it or just not too much, but we can feel a harmonious dance with it. Because let’s be honest, there are people who handle an incredible amount of things each day and they wouldn’t be able to do it without the right structure. And so the more that every single person makes a point to set up the right structure in their lives, the easier it is to find life more in flow and to stretch, to grow, to, um, have that harmony.

The Benefits of Structure in Stretching and Growth

Now that’s where I want to leave it today. Now, I do want to say, as we go further into this session with our beautiful volunteer, there’s even more on the topic of distractions and creating overwhelm. So there are actually more pieces to it that are connected to love and more things. So we won’t go there today.
We’ll go there next week. So I went ahead and cut this session in half. We’ll go into the second half of her session on next week’s episode. But for now, I just want to pause it here, invite you to take a moment and digest this in your own life.

And of course, each volunteer will really need to follow through to reinforce their programming to maintain their results. But the point is, for you to see that you really can create rapid results in your health and your life if you really understand how to use your mind. You’re incredible.

Closing Remarks and Health Reminder

And I do want to be clear though that most people will not get results this fast on their own. I make it look very easy because of the discoveries that I made. You’ll want to remember that there’s so much more going on in our minds at a deeper level than people realize. That said, if you want to send me any questions or comments, come visit me on my website at brandy gilmore. com slash podcast.

And if you’re currently experiencing physical pain and would like to be a volunteer on the show, you can sign up there as well. Lastly, please remember if you do have any health issues, you won’t want to avoid your doctors. Instead, you’ll want to continue seeing them and make it your goal to blow their minds with what you’re capable of with your mind.

Thank you.
